Exciting new authors at the Newmarket Farmers Market

Don’t forget to pull out your calendar and mark June 25 as a day not to forget. The Writers’ Community of York Region (WCYR) is proud to present The Bookshelf, held in the Lions Hall & Community Centre at the Newmarket Farmers Market. After you load up on your veggies, come in and meet vegetarian author Cynthia St-Pierre, co-author of A Purse to Die For and A Killer Necklace, the first two books in the Fashionation with Mystery series.

Not only does Cynthia write wonderful mysteries, she ghost-writes a vegetarian blog on behalf of her detective Beckie Green. If you want to find new and interesting veggie recipes, check out https://vegetariandetective.blogspot.ca.

Not only has Cynthia won an award for her writing, she has also received a York Regional Police Citizens Awareness Program certificate, presented and signed by Julian Fantino, former Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police. What a feather in the cap of any mystery writer!

Make your way to the Market and into the Community Centre to meet Cynthia and numerous other authors. You’re certain to find some exciting books and discover a new, soon to be famous, local author.

Author Rob Brunet – Stinking Rich

Rob’s novel, Stinking Rich, is one of the top 6 debut novels of 2014. The novel takes place in the Kawartha region, north-east of Toronto. In his novel, Rob answers the question, “What could possibly go wrong when a backwoods biker group decides to hire high school dropout to tend a barn full of high-grade marijuana?” Apparently just about everything.

Stinking Rich is a solid first novel for Brunet, who is already working on two other books that bring us up-to-date on life in the Kawarthas and reintroduces some of the characters in this book.Rob Brunet

After numerous rejections, Rob found himself at a conference, seated beside Eric Campbell of Down & Out Books, one of the publishers he had sent his manuscript to. He introduced himself and admitted he couldn’t remember if that publisher had already said no to his books. By the end of their conversation, Rob had sold Eric on his book.

Rob is a member of Crime Writers of Canada as well as the Director for the Toronto and Southern Ontario Region. He is also a creative writing instructor at George Brown College and co-host of Noir at the Bar Toronto.
